PTSchram History and Bio

PT is the driving force behind PT Schram Rover Repair
Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, PT began wrenching in 1970
when he received a Honda ATC90 for his birthday.
In 1974 PT bought his first car, a 1966 Mercury Monterey
(and similar to his Land Rover hoarding,
he soon had THREE mid-60s Mercury Montereys!).
in 1978, the engine PT had built for the Monterey started,
thus beginning a love for engine building, cars and machinery.
In spring 1981, PT sat for the NIASE certification test in Engine Repair,
passed the test, and was at the time,
the second youngest person ever to achieve such certification.
Later in 1981, PT went to work for a local rental company
and on his first day working there,
he learned that the owner of the business
also recovered crashed general aviation aircraft
and rebuilt them in a garage on an alley in
Fort Wayne's Lakeside neighborhood.
The next thing he knew,
he had become an Apprentice Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic,
and after passing a flight physical, he was a student pilot as well!
This proved to be a great opportunity as during the summer of 1984
PT got to fly to Versailles Ohio each weekend to assist
with the engine replacement of N51Z,
at the time, the only flying A-model P51 Mustang.
Sadly, chronic kidney stones beginning
in 1988 put an end to his flying as he was
unable to maintain flight medical certification
due to the kidney stones.
About this time, PT realized that chemistry
and college were a better long-term strategy
for success and PT devoted himself full time to his college studies,
graduating from Transylvania University with a BA
in Business Administration in 1987.
He finished the classwork for his BA in Chemistry
at St Francis College, Fort Wayne in 1990.
Shortly thereafter, PT and his sister Peg opened
SP2 Analytical & Consulting Services Corporation.
this proved to be another turning point
and a stepping stone to greater things.
In 1983, PT joined Indiana-Michigan Power company
as an Environmental Specialist
where he was in charge of emergency/spill prevention,
response, and various other programs
until 1996 when he joined Phelps-Dodge Magnet Wire
as Environmental Engineer.
In 1999, he left Phelps-Dodge to go to Lear Corporation
where he was EH&S manager
for a major automotive parts manufacturer until 2003 when he decided
to open his first Land Rover shop.
Since buying his first Land Rover in 2001,
he has spent every available moment learning about Land Rovers,
working on Land Rovers and helping others fix their Land Rovers.
